KASIH SAYANG HOME FOR THE MENTALLY DISABLED

PUSAT PENJAGAAN KANAK-KANAK TERENCAT AKAL KASIH SAYANG
ABOUT US

Established in 2006 and housing 34 residents, the Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Kasih Sayang is a welfare home built to provide hope and care for handicapped and mentally disabled individuals.
The Welfare Home accommodates both youth and senior citizens ranging from ages 13 to 60 of different conditions including schizophrenia, down syndrom and cerebral palsy. Amongst these residents, most individuals are orphans and come from financially poor backgrounds where their
limited resources have hindered them from living a completely fulfilling life.
Realising that the disabled need a place they could call home, the Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Kasih Sayang aims to fill the gap in the lives of its residents by offering not just shelter and food, but also support in various forms to provide them with a sense of belonging. Through loving care, a life of hope can finally become a reality.
Fast Facts
-
We are a non-government organisation that fully depends on public support
-
Our social workers live in the home to be on a 24-hour rotation to look after the residents
-
Every year, there is an increasing burden in our costs due to increasing residents and insufficient support
-
Most of our limited funds are focused on paying workers' salaries (39%), disabling us to prioritize on other highly important issues (e.g. buying medications and providing enough rooms for residents)
